Do you know about guava yet? Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t. This tropical fruit is packed with good-for-you vitamins and nutrients and is certainly worth adding to your diet. But in some places it can be hard to come by, and perhaps that’s why it doesn’t get a lot of airtime in the nutrition world.

But the guava really deserves our undivided attention! Those in the know look upon guava as something of a superfood. This juiceable, nutritionally-dense fruit fits right in the palm of your hand and is most often round or pear-shaped. They come in a variety of colors: red, yellow, pink, and white. Filled with teeny tiny seeds that give them loads of crunch, the rind of a guava is edible too. Not everyone can appreciate the rind and seeds, however, so some people prefer to drink guava juice.

Guava: Nutritional Benefits

Most of us think of the orange as a go-to Vitamin C source, and we’re not necessarily wrong. But a guava has a whopping four times more Vitamin C than what is found in an average orange! Not only that, it has almost 70 times more fiber than you’d find in that same orange.

Not to be a showoff, but it has ten times more Vitamin A than a lemon has.

Other important nutrients the guava has are vitamins B2 and E, potassium, magnesium, copper, calcium, folate, iron, phosphorus, and manganese. OK, maybe it is showing off just a little.
